crimson rosellas gently head butting objects

I am wondering if you might have also noticed crimson rosellas gently head butting objects.
It looks as though they are feeling with their heads.
A lot of the CR's that visit me are walking up to things and gently placing the top of their beaks and the front of their heads on the objects.
I'm fascinated by this and haven't seen other species do it.
