    Cooper's hawk

Didn't have to go too far to photograph this one. I was in fact swimming in my pool in my backyard when this hawk popped onto my fence about 20 feet away, hoping to score one of the birds at my feeders. He's been a backyard regular for years now. In the summer, I often bring my camera and...

    Help with accipiter ID.

Hello everyone, My name is Partha and I'm from Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (IN). This morning, I saw a smallish raptor with dark brown upperparts with prominent irregular white spots on the back and a lighter coloured head with prominent brown streaks. The tail was notched...

Raptors over my garden: northern goshawk

This female goshawk appeared from behind some trees very close to me. Prior to that, a large flock of crows flew over, so I was prepared with the camera when the goshawk appeared. She is backlit, but seems to work with light-colored birds.

  10. Brown Goshawk

    Brown Goshawk

I THINK this is a Brown Goshawk, but it could also be a female Collared Sparrowhawk. What do you think? It was almost as large as the female Brown Falcon that you'll see in the next photograph that I'll upload. This photograph was taken on a day of about 43 degrees Celsius, preceded by two...

I guess he finally noticed me because seconds later, he grabbed the remainder of the carcass and flew off to a distant fence row.

    Cooper's Hawk 2

I turned around in the nearest driveway and went back to get as close as I could. He must have been pretty hungry as he didn't seem the least bit agitated by the nearby traffic.
