There was a commercial fishing boat about a kilometre away and they also had a large number of Albatross hanging around. I had never seen so many at one time.
Did a Pelagic trip and when the skipper started throwing bits of fish over the side we eventually had over 100 Albatross and many other sea birds round the boat.
Smaller species of albatross. They come in quite close at Half-moon Bay, Stewart Island,NZ.
Known locally as white-capped some authrities include this as the Shy Albatross
