Amakihi are native forest birds of Hawaii and can be seen in Haleakala National Park. Elevation was at about 7000 feet where this bird was spotted.

This one, as it happens, was not in a parking lot, but in the Waikamoi Preserve. He's in a rare koa tree :). I think he is just beautiful; energetic and healthy.
