Avoiding the rain of yesterday morning, but not the persistent Westerly wind, I was lucky to find a pair of Rock pipit's still feeding this calling juvenile, on the leeward side of the steps down to South Stack lighthouse, Anglesey, Wales.
Not normally easy to photograph, i found them quite...
I'll be in and out today but will catch up with you all before the end of the day.
bru.b and Joe 52, thank you for your helpful comments regarding my incorrect ID which I have now changed to Meadow Pipit.
We've been in North Wales for a few days and on Wednesday morning, in driving rain, we set off for Cemlyn Bay on Anglesey in the hopes that the weather forecast was accurate and that conditions would improve. Well, it had dried up by the time we arrived but as you can see the sky was leaden...
.... but one that posed very well even though it had left a bit of breakfast on its beak!
I'll be in and out today but I will catch up with you all before the end of the day.
Thanks as always for your comments and have a good week-end!
We were in Anglesey last week but our bird watching was severely curtailed by the constant high winds. In fact, there was only one day when the wind had abated enough to feel confident about a visit to South Stack cliffs. However, it's an ill wind (!) because we were present when the first...
We've been on Anglesey for almost a week but I'm sorry to say that the birding has not been good. The constant high winds make any sort of bird watching/photography almost impossible. This is the best of a bad (small) bunch this morning - it's currently raining again!
Apologies for my lack of posts/comments this last week, I'll not bore you with the details, suffice to say that it is a glorious morning here in Cheshire just begging for a walk in the country but alas I am otherwise engaged.
Here's one from the archives taken at RSPB South Stack last year.
This youngster was waiting to be fed (it looks big enough to feed itself!) amongst the sea weed at the end of the beach. Not sure whether anything actually passed from the adult.
This will be my last post for a few days. Go to France on Wednesday for a few weeks. Will catch up in due course...
As you can probably tell, this was a very grey day but the stonechats were active so you have to take your chances when they come!
(the background grey is the sea - brrrr!)
Unfortunately it was a very grey day so the light is somewhat flat. These terns were also very fast so lots of dud shots. This is one of the better ones.

I'm not going to be around on Bird Forum much, this week. Just got back from a few days in Anglesey and off to mid - Wales in a few minutes. I'll catch up at the end of the week.

Just thought I'd post this before we leave - one of my favourites from our time on Anglesey.
This is a very well-known view of the western coast of Anglesey, one of my favourite destinations. The lighthouse and the bird reserve attract quite a lot of visitors. There are guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and puffins on the cliff-face near the lighthouse. This is the area where we found...
