Another very cooperative hummingbird lets me practice my photography.

Another "rescued in Photoshop" (see my other hummingbird upload today)
So once again, a couple hours before sundown and backlit. Knew it would silhouette, so decided to use flash. This was my first outing...

Today's theme is "rescued in Photoshop" (see the Northern Pintail photo I posted earlier which has noise cleanup) which doesn't always lead to prized results, but is more an interesting study.
In this case, a...
One of my regulars, who doesn't seem to mind my presence as long as I'm not in his way. This bird can be aggressive. This is the second shot I've posted of this bird, this from another feeder.

I swear this shoreline area has the largest number of "I'm not buzzing around at breakneck speeds" hummingbirds I've ever seen. Lucky for me and my camera. :)
An alternative view of this photo.

Same bird as my previous hummingbird photo. Reasonably cooperative bird too, decent number of nice photos.

This is the same hummingbird from my recent gallery photo. The photos are in-order (left-to-right, top-to-bottom), shot during a burst while he was stretching and flapping while perched. I found the series quite an...

Hummingbirds are tricky for me to photograph. Rarely is the sun at a good angle to show-off the iridescence of their feathers. Also not famous for holding still in the wild.
It was a cool very windy day and although I knew the Anna's were still active here , I was surprised to see that there were still flowers for the hummers to forage from. The sheltered community garden was protected from the recent cold snap and frosty nights. The Vancouver and Lower Mainland...
Male Anna's defending his perch - Stalked this little guy for a few hours, between rain storms, and his every 15 minute forays for food.
Used Nikon D700 and a Nikkor 300mm lens, ISO320, 1/125 sec at f/16
Annas Hummingbird (Calypte anna) Species sexually dimorphic. Females only have a small central red patch on the throat. Photographed in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, U.S.A. Situated in the Sonoran Desert at ca. 728 m (2,389 ft) elevation and is ringed by five mountain ranges. Urban.
This little guy flew up and perched on a tree-branch barely 12 feet from me. He sat there for quite awhile thus allowing me to take several shots of him -- all the while being scolded by another Anna's unseen off in the brush. Every couple of seconds, he would turn his head and look in the...
