Thank you everyone for your very nice comments on my image of cormorants. This image was taken on a bright, sunny day last December. I was getting out of my car with my camera in my hands when I saw this pipit eyeing me from the other side of the road.
Thank you for your very nice comments on my images of a greenfinch, a kingfisher and a chiffchaff. Today's image was also taken early in December while walking along the fence between the dune and the beach at Suscinio.
Making our way slowly along the road home, I spotted this Meadow Pipit sitting on a fence wire.
The dark background is actually a hill covered with pine trees!
Meadow Pipit is a common species which is find in Tehran in winter and first days of spring close to lakes and rivers. I took many photos of them in Chitgar Lake.
Not the best of pictures, strong sidelight that lit the droplets well, but didnt do the Meadow Pipit justice. As it was a lifer though I have kept it as a record shot!
Ahh this Mipit and the next image made me chuckle as I had to get my wife to lay in an damp, insect strewn, thistle covered crater on the grassland, the things she'll do for me on my birthday, oh and yes she had to be still and quiet......
Its her way of sharing my birthday.........
Lots of meadow pipits on the hills above Penrhyncoch. Most of them too far away, too high up, hidden by hedgerows ... But two of them perched on fenceposts aaaalmost within camera range. I think this is the sharpest I got, but I'll take a closer look later.
A passing hiker pointed out this bird to me just as it left one perch. I re-spotted it atop the bracken, still fairly close. Though it had its back to us it did turn its head from side to side and I managed to time a couple of shots to catch a bit of profile. This one was quite sharp in full...
okay so its a Mipit between barbed wire..... whilst waiting for the Ibis a large number of Mipits were moving around, this one was kind enough to stop for me
