    I had hoped for these in Panama but not seen them there. However, Costa Rica was the luck of the draw: this was not even the first day we saw them, and in total they appear in the notes from five different days!

    These scarlet macaws were flying from tree to tree feeding on almonds. They were shrouded in a fine mist that blew in from the Pacific Ocean and sparkled in the sunlight. This is an uncropped, full frame photo. Look closely and you will see 5 macaws.
