Seen at Cemlyn Bay , North Wales Wildlife Trust Reserve, Anglesey, Wales.

Cemlyn Bay on Anglesey is possibly the best place in the UK to get close to these terns in late July and early August , when they are preparing for their long return migration.

The second of five tern species we saw on our holiday. I won't be posting pictures of all five.

The first time we visited the mountain lakes at the top of Fulufjllet National Park were were astonished to see coastal species like Arctic terns and Common scoters. No Scoters this time but the Arctic terns were very obliging.

We're off to stay near a nature reserve in Croatia on Thursday but I'll try to post again before then. There are brown bears, wolves, lynx etc and many species of birds there.

Balancing seems to be difficult. It was a bit windy.

In northern Dalarna Arctic Terns breed at inland lakes as do Scoters.
