This Bar-shouldered Dove really does blend in so well with the forest floor, doesn't he.
... not the smallest.
Pictures don't generally give you a good idea of the size of birds, but this one is a little smaller than our Collared Dove. However, it is quite a bit bigger than both the Peaceful Dove and the Diamond Dove!
They typically feed on the ground.
A Bar-shouldered Dove came pecking around on the ground pretty close to me, I had to zoom out to get him in the frame LOL (not often had that problem before)!!

I could not work out what it was doing but it was an interesting pose and apparently quite normal behaviour?
