Actually a bathing Swallow. At first I thought it was trying to pick flies off the water but three times it flew over the pond actually diving into the water and popping out again giving itself a shake before circling round again. Most photos were just of a splash as it dived but this one is as...
Yesterday was my birdwatching day with my daughter Francesca. We drove around the Po River delta area making observations and taking pictures from inside the car.
A barn swallow was resting on the top of a pole, just by the road: I slowed the car as much as possible (I couldn't stop because that...
Myself and Jamie watched about 50 of these magnificent birds hawking over a pool. They seemed to almost stop at times so we decided to try and photograph them.It was then that we realised how difficult it really was,and after an hour i came away with about 10 shots, great fun though!
Had a fantastic day with Ken.He came up to visit me for a drive along a moorland road for him to get some shots of upland species. The birds performed well for him, thankfully. On the way to shoot some garden species at Valley Walkers house we saw this guy being blown around on the fence (hence the...
Today I took my family in the Po River delta area to spend some hours in a park. A few swallows used to fly over an area and sometimes landed to pick up something. I took many pictures, most of them blurred, but saved this one.
Here it is!
I didnt think any of these little guys were ever going to land ha. After a couple unsuccessful hours of trying to catch one in the air, This guy decided to help me out.
Those who visit Minsmere will know that the swallows nest at the sluice and the signs there are very nice perches, looks like this swallow is checking his bearings......
I was longing for the first photographic session with Swallows and it finally arrived during my Easter holiday! o:) Not the perch of my dreams (|=)|) but liked its pose here showing the cute reddish face
I was willing a Red-rumped Swallow to sit in the gap on the wire and my heart skipped a beat when I thought it was actually going to happen. Unfortunately he chose another spot a bit further along the line. It would have been a lovely comparison shot.

The female ,I call Mrs Tatty-tail as one of her tail feathers is quite ragged.I saw a pair fly across...
Used the public restrooms as both a hide and a windblock and took 50 or so shots of these speedy birds as they hawked for insects above the culvert. Caught this one taking a quick sip.
Taken in the only cloudy day during my holiday in Andaluca last summer! Even if the light was not very good I like how this juvie was trying to keep balance in the wind, and made me think of the juvie swallows Ken bred in his garage (I still remember this first pic of yours I commented, Ken...
