  1. Whinchat

    Whinchat

One from late summer. Today was mild but I did not even hear a willow warbler anymore. From 🍂☔ to ❄️☃️.
  2. Little grebe

    Little grebe

An hour and a half one way by bike to reach the reservoir. Autumn has arrived. Rain and a drop of temps from now on.
  3. Common buzzard

    Common buzzard

The crows noticed me and left. I approached/hid myself behind two trees but the buzzard was not surprised that the crows left him the prey.
  4. Red kite

    Red kite

Did the kite see me? 🤣
  5. Common buzzard

    Common buzzard

Behavioural display but the buzzard did not feed on the dead pigeon.
  6. Departure

    Departure

The kite flew away. I tried to find a place in the shadow for a hide but "two" kites came back too early. Not a chance for a hide.
  7. Collage

    Collage

I put my recent efforts, to get migrating birds heading southwards, into this collage. The wheatear is from today. A male stonechat together with some x ID larks were there as well. Probably my last migratory birds this year. Difficult to get a close-up in short term.

Not sure if chiffchaff or willow warbler. Maybe the latter one.
  9. Doc shot - great grey shrike

Doc shot - great grey shrike

It later perched in the hedges (bg) but I was unable to approach it because the blackbirds there alarmed the shrike when they flew off with a lot of noise.
  10. Goldfinch

    Goldfinch

    Puddlefinch
  11. Black redstart

    Black redstart

    Gravel pit hide.
  12. Young western yellow wagtail

    Young western yellow wagtail

    Reservoir hide.
  13. Wheatear

    Wheatear

Looked for wheatears today. One is still there. The three others have already left the area. Interesting because this one was on its own the whole time. It did not join the small group of three. It sat far away from the three others the whole time. I came home with a few kilograms of potatoes...
  14. Young goldfinch

    Young goldfinch

    Autumn is thistles time.
  15. Resting wheatear

    Resting wheatear

Easier to approach, behind an earth wall, but more difficult to capture. Two acceptable pictures from a few dozens of shots. Variable wind gusts made focusing through the vegetation almost impossible.
  16. Migrating Wheatear

    Migrating Wheatear

I found four in the past days. Not easy to get them in the open field. I finally found a way and got this one in the afternoon. Thank you wheatear 👍😁.
  17. Black redstart

    Black redstart

Pretty warm here at the moment. Only the mornings are already cold and it is getting dark earlier. Otherwise almost no difference to summer weather.
  18. Red-backed shrike

    Red-backed shrike

On migration together with a male. Captured two weeks ago.
  19. SF Rock jumper - Hop-on/Hop-off (HoHo)

SF Rock jumper - Hop-on/Hop-off (HoHo)

Cold and dark mornings are already normal @ this time of the year.
  20. Male redstart

    Male redstart

The same male, me still without camo, directly in front me.
  21. Red kite

    Red kite

Two cycle rides to get some birds in the last two days. The weather will be autumn like in the coming days. Maybe better next week. No more migratory x_chats, shrikes, x_flycatchers at the usual places.
  22. Male black redstart

    Male black redstart

Dear bievre, I developed a new camo technique. My approach was to act like a redstart; without a camo net. I sat on the fence like they do and ... after an hour perched this male on old fence wood on the other side of the path. 🤣😉
  23. European pied flycatcher

    European pied flycatcher

I am not sure if European or Collared and I was happy to find at least one migratory beauty in the last two days. The ID guys will hopefully find serious marks. Update: Bewick helped to ID this flycatcher.
  24. jbpixels

Ficedula ... hypoleuca vs albicollis ... Your IDea please. 👍

I captured this migratory cutie yesterday afternoon close to Starnberg/Bavaria. Please share your ID knowledge with me. I will upload a third pic to the gallery soon. Overall a more greyish impression with strong whites. A collared? Thank you for your support.
  25. Black redstart

    Black redstart

Looked for birds on migration this afternoon. Spotted a small group of redstarts and some starlings. It was pretty hot for this time of the year.
