Bean Goose

Our name for this bird is Sea Goose. Mietoinen Bay is a great birding place. Big flocks of geese coming there, Grey Herons, Waders.. Lots of birds. But you are not allowed to go anywhere near water and birds. So its not a photographing place. Unless you do huge crops like I did here.. ;)

This guy seems to be a regular visitor here, (assuming it is a "guy" and it is the same bird) visiting each winter for the past three years. (Hishikui).

Uploading this Bean Goose image as a matter of interest as i don't see any reference to an image from Britain in BF they are seemingly all from Europe. Why? Taken Dec 06. ps. hope the indentification is correct.

In North of Norway I got photos of Bean Gooses who flew near me. Unfortunately there were not sunshining and blue sky at background.

The sub specie "middendorffi" has a longer beak and neck.

These geese took the liberty to shit whilst being photographed. I wonder if it was a more distinct form of art criticism?

This was a surprisingly tame Bean Goose at Utonai-ko Hokkaido. There are some Pintails in the background.
