    looks like a male juvenile, moulting into 1st winter. I read in the literature that the bearded reedlings in the Camargue suspend their moult during the winter months, which may explain why this one hasn't acquired its first winter plumage yet. Or maybe due to the exceptional warm temperatures...

    A group of about 30 of these landed in front of the bird hide, a real treat! Took quite some photos, so more to come in the coming days. This looks like a 1st winter bird.
