These geese gathered together for me to take a nice group photo:-)

  5. Female Tufted Duck

    Female Tufted Duck

I seem to take all my best photos at Blashford Lakes. It's a really nice nature reserve, five permanent hides and some varied habitats. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
  6. Lapwing on a Windy Day

    Lapwing on a Windy Day

Their crests must be annoying on a windy day:-)
  7. Meadow Pipit

    Meadow Pipit

Not an easy bird to photograph as it's normally difficult to get close enough to them, but one turned up in front of the hide long enough for me to capture it. Not the most colourful bird in the world but good to get a photograph of one all the same.
  8. Willow or Marsh Tit?

    Willow or Marsh Tit?

I never know which is which. I presume it's the more common Marsh Tit. If anyone can ID this I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

  10. Little Ringed Plover Diptych

    Little Ringed Plover Diptych

These birds were nesting in front of the hide so no laws were broken in photographing these important rare birds. They seem to have found better nest sites away from the hide these days, although Lapwings still nest quite close.

    Common Tern with Pike

This Tern caught a small pike right in front of the hide. Sometimes you get lucky:-)

    Siskin

This is a heavily cropped photo but still has enough detail to make it decent.

    A Dangerous Place to Perch.

A spiky perch for this little Wren. No wonder its tail's up!
  19. Gadwall oiling up.

    Gadwall oiling up.

The Gadwall seems like a very boring grey duck, but the detail and patterning of the feathers is stunning.
  20. Twisting on Down

    Twisting on Down

This lapwing had circled the loch about 9 times before twisting down to its chosen landing spot. Lucky it was near me!
  21. The colour of the Tuff

    The colour of the Tuff

Not the best of light the day I took this but just managed to get the light to show up the beautiful colours you dont often see in the tufted duck.
  22. Kingfisher with Dinner

    Kingfisher with Dinner

This Kingfisher caught the meal of a lifetime. It took quite a few minutes for it to actually swallow the fish, then it flew into some cover to digest the fishy beast.
