One mighty swoop then a dive to capture this little vole. The Heron proceeded to drown the vole before flying off to swallow it. I captured the whole sequence. These are just a couple of the shots.
I was watching this Heron at the far end of the pond, just a little too far for good quality images when it made an immediate dive to the centre. What did it see?
Over the last couple of years or so, I've been trying to learn how to sketch and paint, especially using watercolours. The results are very hit and miss. This is a watercolour I painted for my brother back in June. I am enjoying the huge learning curve.

Busy adult Goldfinch takes a minute from the demands of the juveniles. The interesting thing is, despite how hectic the feeding had been, the juveniles seemed to know not to approach the resting adult.

This adult Goldfinch was trying to feed five juveniles at the feeder; I think the other two were clambering over each other just out of shot lol

So an action shot as well when the two of them start fighting. Looked like one was trying to drown the other as I have a sequence of photos of this battle.
Great to watch.
SO my first-ever capture of a Kingfisher. Extremely difficult as they were hiding in the reeds but, not just one I got two.
Quality not the best, but I'm happy that I have broken my duck !!!!
