Birds flying towards the setting sun have always fascinated me. It is ever such a sight to behold. Here, cattle egrets fly off into the sunset after feeding in the fields.
While staying on the Chobe River there was a pair of these very busy little birds that had their hunting patch right in front of our tent, so we had hours of fun watching them
We were lucky enough to be right next to a colony of these beauties when out on a river looking for Hippos - it was a riot of colour even in the bad light !
We are used to seeing the Yellow-billed Hornbill in the Northern Cape, but I hadn't seen an African Grey Hornbill until we were in Namibia, where they were a common sight
These beautiful little birds excavate tunnels in the river banks and flood plains where they lay their eggs - a colony is quite a sight !
