A rare visitor to U.K. shores ( one at Titchwell, Norfolk recently) these small herons pass through Lesvos in reasonable numbers from April to mid May.

One of a pair that were flying around, but went right over head here. Thinking of my poor back, I switched to my handheld 100-400mm lens, and nabbed this shot.
These 2 chased around the sky for a good few minutes over the lakes. Great to see. They never actually made contact, unlike similar encounters I've witnessed before.
I have seen this bittern on two visits to Reifel. I don't know why they pose this way. I would expect them to be foraging and looking down for foood.Any ideas?
