This bird was living the easy life at the hotel by fishing using bread as bait that was thrown into the various ponds in the grounds by guests feeding the fish. This was taken as it was chilling out after a large breakfast of four or five fish from the pool next to the restaurant.
This is a repost of black-crowned night-heron (juvenile), but zoomed in shot for better detail. Lost my background look but a better look at the subject.
A juvie, and you can tell by the yellow on the bill, and if you were able to seem them, large white spots on the wing coverts. The Yellow-crowned has tiny white spots and a black bill. The adults are an easier ID.

Just got back from the New Jersey shore. While there was able to spend some time at E B Forsythe Wildlife Refuge near Atlantic City.
There were several of this Night-herons present at the refuge as well as many other shorebirds.
