Leaning out of the car window, pointing the camera down the bank, through a fence, to get at this wee Black-fronted Dotterel.
So that was two dotterel species picked up that day; I do love the charadrius plovers.
This Black-fronted Dotterel had found a decent morsel to eat by the looks of it.
This was the very last picture from that remarkable visit to Bowra - even though it was very hot (though not humid fortunately)!
A cracking place to go if you're ever in Queensland.
Setting off back to Han and...
I do so love these wee dotterels, so hope you don't mind me showing you another one.
Black-fronted Dotterel is in the charadrius family, which is my favourite group of small waders. Fortunately I was able to see a lot of them!!
The earlier picture of the dam was taken from the side where the homestead is.
This dotterel was on the far side and as far right as you can get (not quite visible in that picture).
This is a juvenile Black-fronted Dotterel.
The next to come under my gaze was an adult Black-fronted Dotterel, keeping an eye on his/her baby.
Although I've now seen a few of these guys, I still think they're gorgeous.
