I just liked the feather detail on this one. I was half surprised it come out so well as it was just a passing shot.

Just back from two weeks in Cyprus. While I sort out my pictures of Cyprus birds I still have some left from earlier. Here are some Black-headed Guls from three different sites (in the UK).

I think this is one of those images that doesn't suit the web. Viewed at a large size I really like it and the catchlight in the eye really stands out. Compressed for the web, sadly, it seems to me rather more run of the mill. Very small crop 1/5300, f7.1, iso800

Having problems with the cameras internal auto focus system just thought i would give manual a try and go back to the good old days when auto focus was just a dream. Turned out not to bad.

Just liked the way that these gulls were all lined up on their posts.

Flying down the River Blyth today

A day at Slimbridge. Several of the shallow lakes were frozen over, like this one, so no waders!

Like the silky tones of the 40D very much.

They just looked nicely posed in a line but the one at the back wouldn't keep still!

Another one came up beside my car as I was leaving. I couldn't resist and just wound down the window.

Taken in bright sunshine giving the image a pronounced digitised effect.

I've been lurking for a while and have finally plucked up the courage to upload an image. Just wanted to concur with Kieth Reeder that the abundance of this gull doesn't detract from its beauty.

Just another Black headed gull shot......... Little Paxton boating lake pit, half a loaf of 'Sunblest' (appropriately) and the annoying fog suddenly becomes the dynamic factor.

I love how you can adjust the exposure compensation so easily with the 30d whilst tracking a bird mid flight. It makes changing exposures between light and dark backgrounds so much easier. There are plenty of people throwing bread for the swans in the park so plenty of chances to photograph the...

Yesterday I was very disappointed in the performance of the 30d at only iso 400. I was sure that the camera should have been able to produce images of a much higher quality and to me seems no difference to the results from the 350d. Today I tried it out on the gulls at the local park. The light...

Went out looking for a Wryneck only to later discover it had been found dead this morning! Still a nice day out ending at the Salthouse pond.
