The Black-headed Gulls now have their summer plumage and look brown hooded - just like Larus maculipennis from South America.

I was stood watching the birds on swan lake at martin mere and this black headed gull sat on the railing close too me.

This is some of the few juvenile black headed gull i saw last summer.

well folks all this dreary weather's got me browsing old files,found this from my very first visit to leighton moss,what a wonderful sunny day it was too,hoping to visit again on sunday,hope you like,john.

Spring is well and truly arriving in Europe and in just a short space of time we have seen the proof in the Birds as they prepare for it, already the femal Mallards are being chased about the Estuary and the Blackheaded Gulls are sporting new headgear
