    My daily Phoebe

Most California trips I see at least one Black Phoebe per day. This trip started off in that vein, with two of them on the fence of the homeless shelter in the park by Fort Mason. But I've actually had several days since when I haven't seen a single one. Still ... can't complain. Over 50 species...
  3. The daily Phoebe

    The daily Phoebe

Not a birding day in Northern California without at least one Black Phoebe. This was just the second morning of my visit, and the daily Phoebe rule did hold true throughout, but this was the best Phoebe shot I got so I probably won't post any more of them.

Hi Folks: Can't get around without my cane or walker. So, I found this Black Phoebe in my records. Didn't fancy the original, so I took it into CCPS, changed from portrait to landscape, then added a cloud background and border. This bird is found along streams & ponds with marshy...

Yes, that's rain falling in this image!! We just got a half inch but that was like gold falling from the sky for us. I was out on the deck watching the rain when this phoebe landed on our neighbor's peach tree.

I see these pretty much daily when I'm in California, but don't always get good shots of them.

One last shot of the Black Phoebe, somewhat haloed with fluff and bright light. They are very sweet birds, and not only because they eat mosquitoes.

One last post before I head for bed (I think it's finally cool enough to sleep). This was one of the shots I got before the battery ran out, while testing out my new bit of kit - a Raynox 2025 +2.2 teleconverter. Taken at the Old Mountain Cemetery in Sonoma.
