Another shot of the black redstart I saw by a beach a few days ago. It kept dropping down from a low stone wall to forage in the wrack.I took it leaning from my car window as I did not want to frighten it away by getting out of the car.
I saw this bird perched on a low stone-wall at the top of a sandy beach covered with black sea-wrack.From time to time, the bird would drop down to the beach where it foraged for grubs in the wrack. I think this is a first-winter male black redstart but I am not sure at all.
Black Redstart along the undercliff. I haven't seen anything of these birds recently, so maybe they have moved on. If they have, I hope they've gone somewhere where the weather is better than it is here again today, awful!!!
Another bird from yesterday afternoons glorious session on the beach, and as you can see, this un was quite handy at keeping itself fed. I take it this is the female of the species? No sign of the handsome male yesterday, I guess he was down the pub.
Well me old mates gone back to Gods Country, but before he left, we had a beach walk on saturday morning. It was great to see a pair of these little beauties performing in the undercliff, I so hope they breed here again next year.
