black redstart

The odd Migrant Black Redstart turn up on this part of the Coast every winter mostly they move on quickly this one has been here for almost a week I hope he stays on.

The Black Redstart was still showing well to-day. it has picked a corner of the Beach that has a busy Cafe and hosts the Scottish Seabird centre it's great to see this bird ignore all the people who pass this small area, It just gets on with the job of finding enough to eat.

This turned up on our local patch at the wekend, The Sunshine to-day made it worthwhile trying for a Shot, A very obliging bird posing well but at a safe distance.

In winter we have always a few Black redstarts in the garden. males females and juveniles.

Apart from some Black Kites flying over Bergerac Airport, Black Redstarts were the only unusual birds to be seen while on holiday in France. I thought they liked the cliffs along the river but was surprised to find this pair at a tiny village while out on a walk one day.
