This blackbird was content to just watching the cowbird sitting and minding his own business.

There are less than half of the birds in this location than there were last week. A cold front passed through last night and we had 2 inches of snow. I realized tonight that the murmurations are not for fun--they are evasive maneuvers to make it through the accipiter gauntlet.

The pair of Blackbirds that I think are nesting in our garden, in the tub. Dont see much of either of em, but caught her sneaking out of the Ivy earlier in the week.

This male was warily protecting his territory as the female was tending the nest nearby!

Once again I'm toying with the colors of the sunset to evoke an emotional response. Comments welcome. Even the critical. I'm a big girl, I can handle it. The refuge has an annual congregation of blackbirds: Yellow-Headed, Red Winged, Tri-color(?), and Brewer's. They are mostly Red wings and...
