Hot off the press. The Blackcaps have been around again today in the garden but keeping very well hiden. However, this afternoon, Mrs Blackcap decided to take a bath |=)|
Yesterday was a thoroughly dark, rainy, miserable day....until late afternoon.....when the sun came out briefly and a family party of Blackcaps visited my garden |=)|. This shows 2 of the 3 juveniles being fed by their mum. I didn't see dad around although I'm sure he was there somewhere.

Oh, unrelated, but the second brood of Starlings has arrived; so back to wet youngsters that can't fly. I think I've stopped the Cat this time, unless it...
Don't you just hate it when the bird you've been trying to get close to pops up with the sun behind it, lol! I stood and listened to this fellow singing his heart out in the scrub. He then made his way up to this perch and let rip through the woods.
A pair of Blackaps are nesting down the track close to my house - I'm delighted - they are one of my favourite birds. The male sings all the time and I have caught a couple of glimpses of the female. Very hard to get a photo though.
This is one of those pictures where I couldn't decide on a close or distant crop. In the end, I opted for the distant, woodland scene. I guess I loved all the different greens and shapes etc surrounding the Blackcap.
I went for a walk through the small woods about half of a mile away from our house yesterday. It was great to just stand and listen to the birdsong. Several of these wee beauties belting out their tunes.
