I didn't notice this until I was editing through the shots from that day. Had to look closely to see whether this was an abnormal bill or just an ordinary blue tit holding a seed. I'm pretty sure that's not a seed. But the bird seemes otherwise healthy enough.
... well sort of. The Blue Tit was a bit distant in the brush. There's a few fallen trees and branches in the new feeder area.
But I thought he looked lovely sitting on the moss-covered trunk.
That was my very first thought on opening this picture... looks like the Long-tailed Tit had given the Great Tit a knock-out blow before fleeing.. and there's the Blue Tit desperately trying to keep out of trouble.
Can't remember getting these three in a frame before either.
The Great Tit obviously decided the Blue Tit was taking too long at the feeder and decided to take her place on the other side.
It almost seems that they can't see each other, doesn't it LOL.
I moved down to see what what happening at the feeding station. I was a bit surprised to see that it had all been moved, due to the dangerous condition of some of the trees in the original site.
A Great Tit patiently waiting her turn while the Blue Tit tucks in. I didn't even know she was in...
Blue tit giving me a grateful bow over his (or her) peanut ... and I thank him/her back for the spot of bright color on a grey winter's day.
Recently, meanwhile, we've been having brilliant though cold weather. I've been out on long hikes, getting some bright, clear shots. But today it's windy...
Last set of posts from 2017. I'm finally ready to move on to the new year ;) Probably moving fairly fast into it at first, since days are short and the light dim in mid-winter.
