Welcome to my garden, oh Bringer-of-Seeds

Finally, a wee Blue Tit, seemingly bowing thanks for the food.

    (Eurasian) Blue Tit

Another shot of the individual posted on 13 January. The bird seems to be "leaf gleaning" ie meticulously picking small invertebrates from the undersides of leaves. If viewed in full resolution, what looks like a tiny green food item can be seen at the tip of the bill. Thank you for your...

A very restless bird, disappearing and reappearing in the foliage. It seemed to be "gleaning" ie picking invertebrates from the underside of leaves. Thank you for your comments, stay safe and well. John

One of my favorite garden guests - always so cute, so colourful, and often quite acrobatic.

    Window shopping

Five juvenile Blue Tits, can't remember for sure, but think this may be a bit of a record for my window feeders. This lot making use of all but the coconut shell, though that is popular usually as well. Within a week of this they'd all disappeared, probably out into the countryside. Middle end...

Watch some birds to make you cheery. If they don't let it make them blue, Nor should you, nor should you, nor should you. [to the tune of Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow] Alternative caption: There's a reason some colors are called "saturated".

    Size comparison

Common Chiffchaff (center left) and Blue Tit (lower right) as compared to a Hogweed plant - probably the coastal Common Hogweed, although we do also have an even larger one here called "Tromsøpalme" [Tromsø Palm], but that one's an invasive species that the city gardeners based at Leangen Farm...
