Another shot of a Brambling at Strumpshaw Fen. The title won't mean much unless you were a fan of Kenneth Williams' creation, Rambling Sid Rumbold, a singer of dodgy, mock folk songs on 'Round the Horne' in the 60s. I find it hard to hear the word 'Brambling' without thinking of ditties...

I think it's about time I should look at the photos I took while I was staying in Cheshire and maybe post some of them.This one was taken after the first heavy snowfalls. All (or most ) the football matches were cancelled on that day. It was very cold but I stayed inside and took the photo...
From mini series "on the fence" - a new visitor to my garden this winter...the gorgeous Brambling. Have had both male & female in and the male was still around today.
I'm amazed these shots came out as well as they did, given the gloomy conditions on Saturday. Had to shoot at F4.5 and ISO 800, and even then the shots were underexposed. Vexing, given the bright, sunny days leading up to the weekend.
