BWP Vol 1 is short on detail, but this posture is apparently used in 'hostile encounters in autumn flocks between family groups'. Certainly looks that way!
Strange really... there didn't seem to be a whole ton of birds with a quick look around, but take your time and they started to reveal themselves.
We spotted this group having a wash in the main channel running through the salt marsh. Bit distant, so a heavy crop.
One of the most common geese we saw, and this bunch treated us to a fine display as they circled around.
They were hidden out of sight before they took off, and am not sure what spooked them, can guess though LOL.
