brown noddy

So lucky to have been able to visit Bird Island, Seychelles. The birds are so tame there.

Just finished 4 days over 40 degrees, with one bad fire in the Adelaide Hills (we're in the city). One friend had house burned down.

He is picking up some seaweed to take back to line the nest.

Unlike the Black Noddy, the Brown nests away from people on the fringes of the beach.

... are not always passerines. I was thoroughly confused by lots of these seen perching on telegraph poles and wires in Tahiti. They are Brown Noddies and definitely NOT passerine. In Bora Bora, where I took this shot, the only trees they perched on had these very broad stems. You can even see...

I thought this bird was dead at first. Its neighbours were standing up properly. Then I thought it was taking a nap. It woke up a few seconds later.
