    Bully in the afternoon

I found a broken human skeleton leg bone @ my feeding place yesterday. It unintentionally fell from a skip container with excavated material before a burial. Creepy 💀 but simply the reason why excavated material @ cemeteries here is always covered. Today did visitors and me start a rescue...

    Unexpected Bullfinches

Bullfinches are not so common wintering visitors of my town, usually they are seen in January but last year I suddenly met them at the second day of November at the park near my home. They stayed there until March of this year before departing to their nesting grounds.

So fat he couldn't get his wings down

Back to that roly-poly puffed-up bully up at the cabin last Sunday. He really did look amazingly fat! And it may not have been just puffing up against the cold either. I have a shot of him alongside another bully that was downright skinny by comparison. Maybe the two just had very different...
  11. Out on a limb

    Out on a limb

The cousins also have bullfinch feeder guests. That day, in the cold wind, I saw only this guy huddled up in one of the shrubs. He was pretty wary and wouldn't let me work my way closer for a clear shot.
  12. Puffy-Poly Bully

    Puffy-Poly Bully

Saturday we went to the cabin to refill the feeders, there and at a little hut further into the woods. The latter requires snowshoeing into the hills, so DH did that while I filled the ones by the cabin. It was bitter cold ... as you can see by how puffed up this bullfinch is. I have a dozen or...

    Thanks all for your patience

Thanks all for your patience this past year with my slow and uneven climb up the learning curve. I know that "artistic" and "dreamy" are nice ways of saying "out of focus, but I guess it kind of works anyway" ;) So when I had some quality time at the cabin Sunday...
  14. Or maybe Edvard Bull?

    Or maybe Edvard Bull?

There are two Edvard Bulls - jr. and sr., father and grandfather of my neighbor Ida Bull, all three of them prominent historians. And no, Ida doesn't object to the Madam Bull caption, as long as it's said with a fond sense of humor ;)
  15. Ole Bull?

    Ole Bull?

There are two Bull family trees in Norway - not counting this pine from which our bullfinches tend to watch over the feeder area. Both are supposedly Danish families that came to Norway as colonial officials. Both full of prominent figures. Ole Bull is perhaps the most internationally renowned.
  16. Bully for you

    Bully for you

This one's for Delia, who says she has trouble getting shots of these. You're welcome to come visit our cabin, Delia. The Trondheim airport is just minutes away, and I can pretty much guarantee you bullfinches. Oh, and for Ove who thought Madam Bull might object to her caption ... I doubt that...
