    I was given a BBC nature book as a child, with a photograph of a Stone Curlew in it and have been enchanted by them ever since. This was the only sighting, one of a pair, on a 5 week tour of Ethiopia.

    Nice to see a bird that is extending its range. The Senegal Thick-Knee has over recent years established itself on Lake Baringo in Kenya, where this one was seen from a boat on an island in middle of the lake.
