I'm trying to learn to use my new camera and testing it out taking pictures of insects such as butterflies and dragonflies. Technically, I've obviously a lot to learn but I like the way the butterfly is peering over the edge of the leaf. Amazing insects if you look closely.
These white butterflies are real flits, almost impossible to photograph without using a long lens. When I saw this one being still, I crouched and crept in for a shot or two before it must surely zip away. I had taken a couple of shots before the crab spider moved enough for me to see what was...
The humidity had passed the barometer and the blisstering heat hit me when i stepped into my patch..saw people in the car passing by the road shaking their heads at this crazy Singh..started trotting in to my patch..when saw two butterflies gliding before me like spring was in the air..one set...
The butterflies are out again. A few warmer days and the little bugs on wings are everywhere.
Good thing as my big zoom is out for repairs :(, macro is still the next best thing IMO.

Nils
This year has been good to butterflys, but they've got such good eyes, and I not much patience, so getting shots is pure good fortune!! Marian and Akihaka have inspired me to take a bit more time! Thanx guys!!!
Who says butterflies are beautiful! The head came out so sharp on this i had to post it. I shot it hand held at f8. I used a Canon 20D and Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro.
What are you looking at? This moth is really small as can be seen buy the single blade of grass that he is on. I was 20 feet away when i took his picture through a TAK FC 76 and Canon 20D.
