    A long distance migrant from breeding grounds in the High Arctic. This is an adult in basic (non-breeding) plumage. These shorebirds may be confused with Baird's Sandpiper, but Baird's are much browner with a brown bib and lack the gray ventral streaking seen here.

    White-rumped Sandpiper (Calidris fuscicollis) Breeding plumage. Sexes similar. Shell Ridge Road, Rockport, Aransas County, Texas, USA. Coastal Prairie and Marshes Vegetational Area. Small depressional pond in a coastal salt pan at ca. 1 m (3.3 ft) elevation.

    White-rumped sandpiper and semipalmated plover. Picture was taken after sunset, therefore at 400 asa. Beautified in noiseware. The black around the bill of the WRS seemed to be mud.
