Thank you for the Stock Dove comments. Goldfinches have been absolutely stuffing themselves with pine kernels, from the feeder my brother has put up outside the window. (Hopefully these birds have been bringing insect food for their young, and just come to the feeder to replace the calories...
Taken when still at my last home. Opportunities for flight shots are much fewer now, though chances of a perched Sparrowhawk (at close range) must be better.
Thank you for your comments, stay safe and well, and good birding!

This was on the big tree right outside my window. Soon the tree will be in full leaf and block out a large part of the view, but at the moment it gives opportunities for photographing birds foraging for insects etc in its leaflets.
Thank you for your comments, stay safe and well, and good...

Soon the last few will have left the UK and flown back to their northern breeding territories, where they nest low down in boggy woodland and birch forest.
Thank you for your...
Another Goldfinch shot from early February. So far It hasn't been a great year for small passerines, I haven't seen a Blackbird or Robin since November (which is ridiculous!). Hopefully things will pick up as the breeding season gets fully under way.
Thank you for your comments, stay safe and...
Heavy crop. I wasn't set up for birds in flight, grabbed a few shots while it was still there.
Thank you for your comments, stay safe and well, and good birding!

On 3 December, I posted a shot of this bird in the same place, on our substation parapet, looking immaculately groomed. A fraction of a second later, it gave itself a good shake, allowing this last one before flying off. Looking at its rear end, is that grey mass poop, on its way to join the...
