These nocturnal birds love to feed on moths and other flying insects that come out at night. And they're relatively common across much of Kenya.
Compare with the Donaldson-Smith's Nightjar: https://www.birdforum.net/gallery/donaldson-smiths-nightjar.660749/
This nightjar was found on the shores of Lake Langano in the Ethiopian Rift Valley in December 2014. The book says European nightjar is rare here. My best guess is slender tailed. Help please.
Nikon D7000 + Sigma 150-500,
Young Francis Cherutich found this snoozing nightjar for me. He also had stake-outs for a number of other species including owls and Courser.
Sadly we only spent 1 night at Baringo and I only managed a few hours birding but despite this we saw a huge amount of stuff.
I plan to return!!!
