This young Gray Catbird was flying around me like if I wasn't there. When it stopped I saw that it was a juvenile, it gave me few seconds to capture it.
I haven't posted here for quite a while, but I'm now back for a bit. Here's a common local bird with a characteristic chatty song and a "mieaow" like call.
This catbird was very interested in the sounds and calls surrounding him. It looks as though he's trying very hard to listen in on a private conversation.
While at the river I was walking along and noticed this catbird just perched perfectly on a branch. He stood still for me just long enough to snap a photo.
The Catbirds returned a couple of weeks or so ago. There are three of them who regularly visit my feeders. There was one on the tree this morning who seemed to be "meowing" to me, telling me to refill the seed feeder. This particular bird often strikes an unusual pose.

Got out of the car, camera in hand, and this gray catbird flew in and landed on a bush 15 feet in front of me. It then asked me to takes it's picture so I took several.
The male (left) has been around for a week or so, having returned from his wintering quarters farther south. Finally, this morning, the female (right) made herself visible! They both tend to be shy, preferring to hide behind leaves, but the female is even shyer than the male.
This Gray Catbird arrived from its more southerly wintering quarters about May 1st and has been singing from the top of the bamboo, as shown here. Yesterday evening I heard it sound the "mew", from which this bird gets its name. Yet, the Catbird's regular song is much more melodious...
