There were a flock of about 15 of these near the rivers edge flying out from the trees and catching bugs. Then flying back to the trees or a nearby fence, then back out again.
I took this photo while walking on the Fore River Trail in Portland, Maine. I think this trail is one of Portlands best birding spots, which is not known to many and used by very few. I go there on a daily basis. There were a dozen or so Waxwings moving through the tree tops eating berries...
Every year we get Cedar Waxwings in Southern California, they stay for a few weeks then they are gone. I normally see them high up in my neighbors tree. I've taken a few photos of them but because they are so high in the tree the pictures usually aren't that great.
I was in New York birding...
This Cedar waxwing is eating berries from the tree and I was lucky to get this shot. They are large birds 7 inches with beautiful crest; black eye-stripes; yellow breast and white under their tails. Hope to get some more shots. It is hard since they fly in flocks and move very quickly.
