I'm afraid you guys may be in for a lot of waxwing photos. As long as these birds are around, they're kind of tough to ignore with the camera!

This pair stayed very close to each other the whole time they were in this tree.Whether a mating pair or a sibling pair or a parent and young, I don't know. Pretty pair though.

Last evening there were waxwings in our serviceberry tree.

There was quite a flock, but as they're approximately the size and general outline-shape of those magnolia leaves, it wasn't always easy to spot them.

Why "sail ho"? Well, sometimes looking at a photo makes for weird associations in my mind. Every time I look at this particular photo, the waxwings always make me think of pirates up in the rigging of their ship and on the lookout for other ships to board and loot. Yes, I know, weird...

I have only seen a Cedar Waxwing once around my place so I was happy to see a small flock of about seven of them in the tree behind my house.

The one in the forground (1st year) was feeding the back one but they were both getting around quite well and moved in and out of range a couple times.
