Not an every day visitor to my yard but there are a couple that drop in a few times a week. I tend to drop everything when I see them and try to get shots of them.
Here's another oddity. This morning this Brown Creeper kept creeping DOWN the tree. At first I thought it was a nuthatch, it was moving in a very Nuthatch way. I thought it very unusual for a creeper to travel like that, I have never seen one do this before. I have on occasion seen them stay in...
Sorry, yet another shot of this guy. It was stationary for a change, just hanging out in the sunshine. I had to grab a few frames before he went on his way.
Caught this one in a relatively rare pose for these birds. It paused atop this cut off trunk for a few moments, looking a bit confused, as if it was thinking, "Hey, where'd the rest of the tree go?"
Have 3 or 4 of these little fellas that drop by a couple times a week. They will often dine on peanut butter I spread here and there. This day had all four here but only managed a few shots before they left. It's always a treat to see them. I find these birds to be really cute.
Looking like a bit of detached bark spiraling up the tree trunk using its stiff tail for support, this cryptic species searches for spiders and other insects using its curved bill like tweezers. Formerly lumped with the similar Eurasian Treecreeper, genetic and vocal studies have shown that it...
I was outside when this cute little bird landed on and started inspecting a tree not far from me. The light was a little better this time and I think this shot is better and clearer than my last one.
These birds will occasionally show up in my yard. But it always seems to be in early morning or late afternoon or on an overcast day when the light sucks. Not good when I'm trying to get a shot of it with a small superzoom. This fella was skipping around on a large tree in my yard for about half...
I watched this Brown Creeper pull a peanut piece from some lichen. A nuthatch had placed it there not long before. The creeper might have thought this was a bug, maybe a hard shelled beetle or something. It manipulated it around in its beak for a few moments as if trying to make up its mind if...
A rare sight for me. This is only the 2nd tree creeper ( a brown tree creeper) I've ever seen, and the first I managed to get a shot of. At first I took it for just another nuthatch, until I noticed it was moving differently. They're so quick, and frustrating! This is the best shot I managed...
Common in the forest of higlands of Mexico, take a good photo is very dificult because it bird alwas live in the shadows jumping betwen trees constantly, the only member of this family in America
My best shot so far of the brown creeper, I think. Or at least the closest. I was shooting robins who were eating toyon berries when I saw something flutter right past my lens and land in a branch close by. There was a shrub with some leaves in the way, so one otherwise sharp shot has a bit of...
