Between travels, I do actually see some birds in my home patch as well ;). Today three from a walk in the hills above the falls. This Chaffinch was being discreet, sitting behind a strategically place leaf ;)
This handsome male Chaffinch was enjoying the leavings on the ground too... or maybe he didn't think there was enough room for him on the bird table with all the Reed Buntings on it LOL.
It was a very popular area too....
Quite a collection what with Chaffinch and Greenfinch; as well as the Reed Buntings.
For once the Greenfinch didn't look too grumpy in this company LOL.
A great hide this one, always something going on.
hi guys took my camera out to feed the birds this morning before work.nearly positive this is a juvenile chaffinch, know its a chaffinch but not 100 percent on juv as only seen it for a split second but almost certain it is.
I did also see some birds that day. This Chaffinch was (im)patiently waiting for us to pass so he could fly across from the fence on one side of the path to the hedge on the other side where we think he must have had nest and nestlings. So without trying out further settings, I took a few...
Decided to post another chaffinch, since Vicki liked the one yesterday. This one was "lecturing" on the campus at Aberystwyth. Deedeedee Dahdahdah Tcheeooowhip! He kept repeating that, so I guess it's going to be on the exam. Hope I got my notes right ;)
Also from that walk 'round the village - along the hillside on the farm track, then back through the village along the road. This chaffie was up by the farms.
Thank you everyone for your very nice comments on my image of a pheasant. Here's a picture of a female chaffinch. In good lighting , these birds can look really beautiful.I may not be able to post very often in the next two weeks or so.
