    Gran Canaria Blue Chaffinch

One of Europe's rarest breeding birds, he didn't give the best of looks, but I was pleased to find this one male, as I was told it's a tricky species, even more so outside the breeding season!

    Not so common....

Chaffinches are not so commonly seen at these new feeders but he looks pretty comfortable tucking into the seeds there.

    Better check....

..... before I turn my back!! I don't seem to have seen a Chaffinch at the feeder for a while, so it was nice to see her back. TTTW

    Blending in

I found the female Chaffinch not far from where the earlier male had been. Her colouring is so similar to the habitat, isn't it.

    Not the best....

.... Chaffie picture I've taken, but I did rather like the setting with this old, fallen, moss covered trees and branches in the leaf litter.

    Not related at all

I don't often manage to catch the Dunnock, so delighted when one pops onto the shed roof and stays long enough for a picture. The Chaffinch seemed to be a bit surprised to see him too. TTTW

    [Norway] Juvenile chaffinch?

I took this photo today (23 May) in south Norway. The plumage of the chaffinch in the upper right corner seems a bit lighter than of the female to the left. Is that perhaps a juvenile chaffinch (already?) or some variation of the colour in the females?

    Chaffinch looking for lunch.jpeg

This Chaffinch was waiting for the local sparrows to move off the feeder and this was taken just as he was getting ready to hop up to the feeder
