Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good!

It was kind of a dreary November late day here in South Carolina so I was shooting at a low shutter speed even at 1250 ISO. This little Chickadee took flight just as I tripped the shutter, producing this amazing photo. I could not replicate this in a million years! The delineation of the wing...

    Chickadee and snow

Last week sometime the weather forecast was for a powerful storm system to pass close by us and potentially give us 10cm or more of snow. That day turned out to be mostly sunny and relatively warm. On Tuesday this week, we were supposed to have a mostly sunny and relatively warm day, and we got...

This was one of about 5 chickadees I saw on this date. This was the only one that would pose for me.

Little fella was at our feeder frequently lately. Gave me a quick shot through the window yesterday. Lucky shot, but glad to have it. Their hyperactivity makes it difficult to get a pic, at least for me. lol.

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good..........

This little Chickadee took flight an instant before I clicked the shutter. I was down to 1/125 of a second at ISO 1200 in the dim light. The blur is perfect, I just wish I had caught the very tip of its wing feathers....

    Chickadee

Haven't had feeders up all summer because of the risk of a contagious disease. Because of this chickadees have been very scarce. Yesterday there were two in a tree just outside my door, so I went out and offered them some peanut pieces. They flew down and landed on my fingers right away. I'm...

Yesterday was my kind of day for birds.....cloudy. I got this shot just as the clouds were getting thicker with just a little blue sky showing.

This one is a little scruffy looking because it's been feeding 4 chicks all day with it's mate.

    "Oh! Pretty snow!"

We've had an unusually mild winter so far, with very little snow. Maybe that's why this little guys seems so interested in the softly falling flakes.

    My Little Friend

This Black-Capped Chickadee loves my bird feeder. He and a few of his friends empty it as quickly as I can fill it. He is very quick and always darting around so I end up with a lot of empty branch or out of focus shots. Lucky for me I can use burst mode so once in a while I can get a clean shot...

The redwood bough came down in a storm, so I put it to good use... near the suet. Little one posed a long time.
