An elegant long-legged parent walking along the shore with her two chicks in tow. Stilt chicks are among the cutest you'll see - like little painted cottonballs with legs.
This is one sight I will not forget ever. It was a cold and windy monsoon morning when I witnessed this heart-warming scene from my car. Last year I uploaded an image of three chicks taking shelter under their mom's wings. Here is another shot.
While waiting for Wood Ducks to come into the mill pond I saw movement in the rocky shore area and the female Hooded Merganser appeared with her chicks. She stayed for a few moments then went over the dam and down the hill to the creek.
