He kept on rattling! Sounded like someone shaking a rattle with a quick tempo.

They must use their tongues to make that rattling sound.

Prior to the "rattling concert" ... from April 22nd, the same morning that the Barn Swallows returned.

I had to puzzle over my shots from this morning for quite some time because I didn't realize that a male White-Throated sparrow could have so much yellow on him! For a while I thought he was a species of warbler, so if anyone has a different idea for his ID, I would love to hear it! We seem to...

I wonder if Chipping Sparrows know we have such a fancy name for their caps LOL! A pair of these guys arrived a week or two ago after spending the winter farther south.

Chipping sparrow in the parking lot. There are a bunch that live in the treeline near my apartments. My neighbors feed them and the pigeons.

I believe I have this ID correct but will leave a ?as I'm no expert on sparrows(or many other birds as well-LOL)
