A lovely bird not shy of human beings.

Last weekend i was lucky enough to come across two chukars with a dozen chicks going for their afternoon "constitutional" among the orange groves at Skoulli. I was able to watch them from a distance for some time and it was fascinating watching them teach the young ones, who copied...

This fellow was spotted in Haleakala National Park on Maui at about 8000 feet elevation. Chukars are part of the pheasant family, which are plentiful on Maui, but Chukars are not seen that often. He seemed quite willing to pose for the camera.

At 9 am on a misty day a number of these partridges were calling from rocky outcrops above the Petrified Forest.

We see very few of these in this part of the U.S. They are pretty cooperative subjects. This one was made some time ago.

Early morning Chukar paused on top of a hill do do some Chucking. These guys are very vocal in the morning.

In Capitol Reef National Park near Torrey, Utah, I was surprised to see adult Chukar partridges running toward slow-moving cars, teaching their progeny how to beg from the passing tourists. They came so close to our car that I had to switch to an older zoom lens that includes a "macro" function.

This is my first gallery photo in quite a while! This adult Chukar was teaching its young how to beg from tourists in autos along the Capitol Gorge in Capitol Reef National Park in Utah. I didn't feed the little beggars, of course, but I took advantage of their boldness to obtain this photo
