The Norwegian word for cisticola is "gressanger", which means grass warbler. Here's a Red-faced cisticola in its proper element. Lifer, of course. Wouldn't have seen these in Norway and this was my first birding trip to Africa; birds were incidentals only on my two previous trips.

These birds are normally hidden in the reeds or scrub, where they are heard more often than seen, but this one popped out onto the lawn.

    Red-faced Cisticola

This bird would be an inconspicuous inhabitant of reedbeds and other rank wetland vegetation if it were not for its loud, distinctive call. New for Opus.
