I should have paid more attention to this species at the time. The colour on these birds is amazing, highly dependent on the angle of the light (compare this one with the next shot).
I'm just back from some quality time at a well-tended set of hummingbird feeders in the mountains outside Sao Paulo, near Embu, SP, Brazil. There were at least a dozen species attending the ten feeders. What a spectacle!
